Updated 21 October 2026

This is the Retail guide for Volatile Air. It covers an older expansion’s crafting material, not Midnight’s new reagents.

The old character-level recommendations have been removed because Retail zones and enemies use level scaling. Check your map’s level range and the relevant zone phase before traveling.

Where to farm Volatile Air

  • Uldum

Kill Scions of Al’Akir in Uldum. A sufficiently strong Retail character can also clear normal Vortex Pinnacle, exit and reset it subject to the game’s instance limit.

Targets and farming method

Kill Scions of Al’Akir in Uldum. An Engineer who also gathers can use an Electrostatic Condenser for additional Volatile Air opportunities. Retail players need the old Uldum phase for the original outdoor farm.

Clear the air elementals around Orsis. Retail players should return to old Uldum through Zidormi if the invasion phase has replaced the original enemies. Markers identify approximate areas. Lines are suggested searches; they are not fixed spawn locations or a measured yield guarantee.
