Learn Midnight Cooking from Sylann in Silvermoon City. This expansion has its own 1–100 skill bar; older expansion skill does not need to be leveled first.
Leveling Cooking
| Skill | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1–25 | Make Spiced Biscuits from vendor ingredients until the recipe becomes grey. |
| 25–35 | Make Felberry Figs using Plant Protein and vendor ingredients. |
| 35–100 | Alternate fresh Spiced Biscuits with Hearty Food conversion; late green skill-ups need extra batches. |
These are profession skill points, not character levels. Yellow and green recipes can fail to award a point. Check recipe color and your learned recipes before committing a full batch of materials.
Craft counts and ingredients per step
Count crafts, not servings. A biscuit craft always consumes one butter and three spices; its food output changes with Cooking skill. Stop a leveling step when you reach its target, even if you have ingredients left.
| Skill / action | Craft budget | Ingredients per craft | Batch ingredients |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–25: Spiced Biscuits | Start with 50; add small batches if needed | 1 A Big Ol’ Stick of Butter; 3 Pouch of Spices | 50 butter; 150 spices |
| 25–35: Felberry Figs | 10 | 10 Plant Protein; 4 Ripened Vegetable Assortment; 1 butter; 1 Mana-Wyrm Essence | 100 Plant Protein; 40 vegetables; 10 butter; 10 essence |
| 35–100: make a fresh biscuit batch | 50 at a time, only when food runs out | 1 butter; 3 spices | 50 butter; 150 spices per batch |
| 35–100: convert biscuits with Hearty Food | One conversion for every 5 biscuits you have | 5 Spiced Biscuits | 50 biscuits support 10 conversions; 100 support 20 |
Learn Hearty Food at 35. Convert saved food first, then alternate biscuit production and conversion. The conversion becomes yellow at 50 and green at 75, so there is no guaranteed fixed number of batches to 100. Increasing your skill between batches can improve the servings from later biscuit crafts.
Shopping list: starter budget and refills
| Ingredient | Starter budget to about 35 | Each later 50-craft biscuit refill | Where to buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Big Ol’ Stick of Butter | 60 | 50 | Cooking supplies vendor |
| Pouch of Spices | 150 | 150 | Cooking supplies vendor |
| Plant Protein | 100 | 0 | Farm or Auction House |
| Ripened Vegetable Assortment | 40 | 0 | Cooking supplies vendor |
| Mana-Wyrm Essence | 10 | 0 | Cooking supplies vendor |
The starter column budgets 50 biscuit crafts plus 10 fig crafts. If you need B additional biscuit crafts, total butter is 60 + B and total spices 150 + 3B. Subtract what is already in your bags. For example, 200 extra crafts require 260 butter and 750 spices in total, with the same protein, vegetables and essence as above. This is a purchasing calculation, not a promise that 200 crafts will finish the skill bar.
For ten more Hearty conversions, you need 50 ordinary biscuits. If the recipe currently yields four servings per craft and you have none, 13 biscuit crafts provide 52 servings and cost 13 butter plus 39 spices. Recalculate using your displayed yield; do not buy one craft’s ingredients for every individual serving.

Compare Midnight food and feast buffs
Pick the stat your character needs, then compare foods that provide that same buff. More points of a different stat are not automatically an upgrade. “Highest secondary” selects your highest secondary stat; it is not a menu where you choose one.
| Buff | Personal food options |
|---|---|
| 50 primary stat | Royal Roast; Impossibly Royal Roast |
| 64 highest secondary | Champion’s Bento; Flora Frenzy |
| 57.6 Critical Strike | Arcano Cutlets; Sun-Seared Lumifin; Tasty Smoked Tetra |
| 57.6 Haste | Crimson Calamari; Fel-Kissed Filet; Null and Void Plate |
| 57.6 Mastery | Glitter Skewers; Warped Wise Wings |
| 57.6 Versatility | Braised Blood Hunter; Buttered Root Crab; Void-Kissed Fish Rolls |
Values use the linked item or recipe records checked on 21 October 2026. The 57.6 values come from 64 × 0.9 in the item data; the game may round their display. These differ from some guide tables that list 59. Recipe access: Midnight Cooking reference. Flora Frenzy is a Harandar quest reward from Gomphusta; the other base recipes in this comparison are trainer recipes.
| Feasts | Well Fed reward | Choice to make |
|---|---|---|
| Harandar Celebration; Silvermoon Parade | 50 primary stat + 98 Stamina | Primary-stat group option |
| Blooming Feast; Quel’dorei Medley | 65 highest secondary + 98 Stamina | Base highest-secondary option |
| Amani Cornucopia; Loa’s Gathering; Feast of Knowledge | 71.5 highest secondary + 107.8 Stamina in the item data (65 and 98 × 1.1) | Coiled Isle upgrade: 10% more than the base highest-secondary feast |
The live Blooming Feast effect and Quel’dorei Medley effect list 65 secondary, while some item records still list 64. This comparison uses their feast-effect values; check the buff applied by your current client. The client may round displayed values. All three Coiled Isle feasts have the same listed stat benefit, so compare their ingredient costs and recipe access. They require level 90 to eat; sit for at least 10 seconds to gain the one-hour buff. The linked item records provide the current effects.
Coiled Isle personal food
Puffer Plate, Sweet-And-Sour Skewers, and Venom-Spiced Cutlets each provide 65 of your highest secondary stat for one hour after 10 seconds of eating, and require level 90. Their published item value is one point above the 64 shown on Champion’s Bento and Flora Frenzy, so compare price as well as that small difference. Their ingredients and sources are listed below.
Hearty food and deaths
Hearty Food consumes five eligible ordinary foods; Hearty Feast consumes ten eligible feasts. The resulting Hearty buff persists through death. For example, Hearty Royal Roast still provides 50 primary stat for one hour: its benefit is persistence, not a larger stat number. Source: Icy Veins Cooking mechanics. Check the conversion’s output and binding before making food for another player.
Choose food by the session, not just the stack price
- Solo play: compare the price per usable serving of the desired stat.
- Group play: divide feast cost by the number of people who will actually eat it. A feast used by five people costs much more per player than the same feast used by twenty.
- Progression pulls: account for repeated food use after deaths, and compare any available Hearty version’s tooltip and conversion cost.
- Crafting for sale: use the actual yield shown at your Cooking skill. One craft is not necessarily one serving.
Example: a 600-gold feast shared by 20 players costs 30 gold each. Shared by five, it costs 120 gold each. Those are illustrative prices; compare against individual food with the desired buff before buying.
Coiled Isle recipes
These patch 12.1 recipes require Midnight Cooking 35. They become yellow at 75, green at 82 and grey at 90, so they are options for the middle of the skill bar, not a route from 90 to 100. Buy Pouch of Spices and Tavern Fixings from Cooking suppliers.
