This is the Retail guide for Heavy Leather. It covers an older expansion’s crafting material, not Midnight’s new reagents.

Train Classic Skinning for this material. Retail uses a separate 1–300 Classic skill bar; the old combined 1–600 progression does not apply. Character levels depend on zone scaling and timeline selection, so the map and quest requirements in your current game determine access.

Where to farm Heavy Leather

  • Feralas
  • Dustwallow Marsh
  • Western Plaguelands

Kill and fully loot the skinnable beasts in the farming area, then skin each corpse. Move between packs so that earlier groups can respawn. Learn the matching expansion’s Skinning skill for better gathering results.

Kill, loot and skin Feral Scar Yetis near the cave south of Dire Maul. Follow the interior passages as well as the approach. Train the appropriate Skinning rank before farming. Markers identify approximate areas. Lines are suggested searches; they are not fixed spawn locations or a measured yield guarantee.
