Farming Volatile Fire — Retail

Updated 21 October 2026

This is the Retail guide for Volatile Fire. It covers an older expansion’s crafting material, not Midnight’s new reagents.

The old character-level recommendations have been removed because Retail zones and enemies use level scaling. Check your map’s level range and the relevant zone phase before traveling.

Where to farm Volatile Fire

  • Twilight Highlands
  • Mount Hyjal

Fish Pools of Fire in Twilight Highlands, or kill fire elementals in Mount Hyjal. Pool availability varies, so combine fishing with nearby eligible enemies.

Targets and farming method

Fish directly into Pools of Fire in Twilight Highlands. Between pools, kill nearby Enslaved Infernos. Flame Ascendants in Mount Hyjal are another outdoor source. Ordinary lava without a pool is not the same fishing target.

Fish directly into active Pools of Fire, then move to the next pool. Kill and loot nearby Enslaved Infernos between pools; ordinary lava is not itself a guaranteed Volatile Fire fishing source. Markers identify approximate areas. Lines are suggested searches; they are not fixed spawn locations or a measured yield guarantee.
