How to obtain Coiled Stargorger

Use Coiled Stargorger Lure on an existing Coiled Isle fishing pool to turn it into a Torrential Gorgerswarm. Fish the converted pool for Stargorgers. The lure is consumed and replaces the original pool.

Convert a pool: step-by-step

  1. Obtain a Coiled Stargorger Lure before traveling to the water.
  2. Find an existing fishing pool on the Coiled Isle. Open water by itself is not a pool to convert.
  3. Use the lure on that pool. This spends one lure and replaces the pool; do this only when you want Stargorgers instead of its original catches.
  4. Check that the pool is now named Torrential Gorgerswarm, then land your fishing bobber inside it.
  5. When that pool is exhausted, find another pool and repeat with another lure.

If it is not working: check the zone, whether the pool still exists, the transformed pool name and where the bobber landed. The fishing map below marks places to begin searching; it does not promise an active pool at a fixed point.

Compare starfish cost before crafting lures

Five of this ingredient Lures produced Average ingredient cost per lure
Beached Asteroid 1 5 starfish
Bulbous Benthos 2 2.5 starfish
Pristine Polygon 6 5/6 of a starfish

The fractions compare efficiency; the craft still takes a whole batch of five. For six lures, compare 30 Asteroids, 15 Benthos or 5 Polygons, including their other uses. These numbers count lures, not guaranteed fish per pool. Recipe access and the supplier map are in the linked lure guide.

Keep fish needed by named recipes, fishing quests and lures. For surplus fish, check the selectable inputs in Thalassian Fillet before planning a salvage batch; eligibility differs between catches.

These are reported starting areas, not permanent pools. Vile Venom is useful for Many-Eyed Flounder and accompanying catches; Bubbling Beryl targets Sulfurous Sludgefish. For Willow Sea or Cursed Oddity, continue scouting and check the pool name. The underground Temple requires its own access and is not represented by a surface marker.
