WoW Classic · Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria
Updated 21 October 2026
Open the continent map and travel to a shovel marker. Use Survey within the dig-site boundary, follow its direction and collect each find. Repeat until the site is exhausted. The site’s research race determines the fragments; these are currencies, not Auction House materials.
| Skill required | Location | Fragments |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Eastern Kingdoms / Kalimdor | Dwarf, Fossil, Night Elf, Troll |
| 300 | Outland | Draenei, Orc |
| 375 | Northrend | Nerubian, Vrykul |
| 450 | Uldum | Tol’vir |
| 525 — Mists only | Pandaria | Mogu, Pandaren, Mantid |
Use fragments to solve the active project for that race. Matching keystones can reduce the fragment cost when the project has a keystone slot.
