The Return of Scholomance and Scarlet Monestary

Blizzard has released the details of the upcoming dungeons and raids coming in Mists of Pandaria. Doing this during 2011 is pretty exciting since it hints at a mid year release of Mists of Pandaria in 2012. Most of the dungeons are just names, pretty graphics and maps, but two of them stick out because we know them very well. Blizzard is redoing Scarlet Monestary and Scholomance, both will have heroic versions at level 90 in Mists of Pandaria.

Scarlet Monestary

SM, the once beloved source of silk cloth and level 28-41 level farming will soon be another farmed heroic dungeon in Mists of Pandaria. Blizzard is not removing the original version of SM but instead just adding two new heroic versions. One version will be a combination of the Graveyard and the Chathedral. Players will start in the Graveyard, kill Bloodmage Thalnos and then move into the Cathedral in front of the fountain and eventually killing anew unannounced boss, Mograine, Fairbanks and High Iquisitor Whitemane. The second heroic will be a combination of the Armory and the Library. Plyaers will start in and complete a dwarfed version of the Library, kill Herod and then move into the second half of the Library where they will kill Arcanist Doan.

It looks like Blizzard is taking the architecture, imagery and boss names of Scarlet Monestary and rolling them into these new concoctions. They certainly won’t be the same Scarlet Monetary, they’ll just feel oddly similar.

Scholomance

Scholomance used to be one of the major level 60 dungeons before The Burning Crusade. It was a long and challenging adventure including over a dozen bosses. The original Scholomance will be left alone but a new heroic version of the dungeon will be available at level 90 in Mists of Pandaria. This new version will include only 5 of these old bosses and consist of some of the same rooms and graphics. You will get to face Rattlegore, Ras Frostwhisper, Jandice Borv, Kirtonos the Herald and Darkmaster Gandling in this new heroic dungeon.

Dungeons and Raids

There are a total of 9 new dungeons and 3 raids coming in Mists of Pandaria. You can see the details of all of these at Blizzard’s WoW Dungeon and Raid Panel
