Separate Legion skill paths for all 13 professions, including the recipe ranks and access requirements that determine whether a route can reach its cap. These guides apply to Retail’s Legion profession bars.
Use the right skill bar and recipe rank
Choose this expansion in your profession window. Stop each stage when you reach its target skill; craft quantities are estimates whenever recipes turn yellow or green. Unlock the specified recipe rank before buying a full batch. Training, quest hand-ins, tools and discovery attempts can add materials beyond the listed crafting stages. Check your own recipe window for racial skill adjustments and current requirements.
Alchemy: 1–100
Start Get Your Mix On with Deucus Valdera in Broken Isles Dalaran; reserve 9 Yseralline Seed for the introductory potions. Patricia Egan sells recipes and vials. Continue the profession quests through Testing the Calibration to unlock flasks.
4–9: five Ancient Mana Potions (20 seeds). 9–15: six rank-2 Ancient Healing Potions (24 seeds). 15–20: five Ancient Rejuvenation Potions, using five of each earlier potion. 20–50: roughly 35 more rank-2 Healing Potions (140 seeds). A discovered rank 3 can remain useful to 70.
50–70: use an unlocked rank-2 combat potion; Leytorrent’s rank 2 drops from Wrath of Azshara. Twenty-five crafts use 25 Starlight Rose, 50 Aethril and 50 Dreamleaf. Reserve quest hand-ins separately. 70–100: use rank-2 flasks, switching to rank 3 if discovered. Sixty Flask of Ten Thousand Scars use 420 Starlight Rose, 600 Aethril and 600 Dreamleaf; its rank 2 comes from Heroic/Mythic Odyn. Green gains and discovery luck make this an estimate.
Blacksmithing: 1–100
Start Strange New Ores with Alard Schmied in Broken Isles Dalaran; bring 10 Leystone Ore. Follow the profession quests through Tribal Knowledge to unlock Demonsteel equipment and Urael’s recipes.
1–60: craft about 60 Demonsteel Bars from 120 Felslate and 60 Leystone Ore. Keep them. For 60–100, use rank-3 Demonsteel Waistguard: roughly 14 crafts consume 56 bars and 28 Blood of Sargeras.
Buy rank 1 from Urael, craft one Waistguard and speak to Muirn Ironhorn for rank 2. Strap Bucklebolt in Dalaran’s sewers sells rank 3 for 500 Sightless Eye. Craft Demonsteel armor at the Firmament Stone by Ironhorn Enclave in Highmountain. Budget the rank-1 unlock craft and quest materials separately; the 14 rank-3 crafts are not the complete cost of learning this route.
Enchanting: 1–100
Complete Some Enchanted Evening for Enchanter Nalthanis in Broken Isles Dalaran. Follow Ildine Sorrowspear’s quest chain; reserve about 54 Arkhana, 15 Leylight Shards and five vellum for its hand-ins.
Disenchant Legion gear to reach about 25. From 25–70, approximately 55 Chaos Shatter crafts use 55 Chaos Crystals. Buy that formula from Toraan the Revered at Friendly with Argussian Reach. Each crystal becomes two Leylight Shards; Ley Shatter converts each shard into three Arkhana.
70–100: 30 rank-3 Binding ring enchants consume 120 Chaos Crystals and 1,050 Arkhana. Buy rank 2 from Ildine. Rank-3 Haste requires Dreamweavers Exalted; Critical Strike, Mastery and Versatility require Nightfallen Exalted. Without that reputation, rank-2 Bindings can finish but turn green near the end, potentially requiring about 50–60 crafts. Compare unlock time with the extra material cost.
Engineering: 1–100
Take Aww Scrap! from Hobart Grapplehammer in Broken Isles Dalaran and follow the quests through All Charged Up for Gunpowder Charge rank 1.
Before bulk crafting, buy ranks 2 and 3 from The Widow in the Dalaran sewers for 250 and 500 Sightless Eye. Rank 2 cannot carry this route to 100.
Use rank-3 Gunpowder Charge from your current skill to 100. Budget roughly 140 crafts: 140 Leystone Ore and 2,800 Oversized Blasting Caps, sold by Hobart. The recipe turns green at 90, so buy final batches as needed. Vendor spending and farming 750 Sightless Eye are part of the route even when the ore is cheap.
Inscription: 1–100
Complete Sign This for Professor Pallin in Broken Isles Dalaran. Manually mill Legion herbs to 25; Mass Milling does not award those early points. Felwort is a strong Sallow Pigment source, while other herbs supply Roseate Pigment.
25–40: loot the Tome of the Tranquil Mind technique behind Pallin, then make about 20 tomes using 20 Sallow Pigment plus parchment. 40–100: about 60 rank-3 Nighthold Vantus Runes use 180 Sallow and 900 Roseate Pigment.
A practical target is Skorpyron: acquire rank 1 from that boss, learn it, then defeat the boss again on another difficulty or reset for rank 2. Rank 3 is sold by Veridis Fallon at Revered with Court of Farondis. Obtain the ranks before committing pigments. The main crafting stages total about 200 Sallow and 900 Roseate Pigment, excluding extra attempts, parchment and earlier unlocks.
Jewelcrafting: 1–100
Start Facet-nating Friends with Tiffany Cartier near Timothy Jones in Broken Isles Dalaran. Follow the profession chain; A Personal Touch requires at least 50 Legion Jewelcrafting and unlocks a class necklace.
1–35: roughly 40–45 basic gem cuts, such as Versatile Skystone, at one gem each. 35–60: 25 rank-3 Skystone Loops use 50 Skystone and 25 Chaotic Spinel. Buy rank 3 from Ransa Greyfeather at Honored with Highmountain Tribe after learning earlier ranks.
60–95: approximately 45 rank-3 pendants use 225 matching uncommon gems and 45 Sangrite. Rank-3 Deep Amber Pendant is a Broken Isles world drop; other pendant ranks come from rotating world quests. Jabrul and Tiffany supply earlier designs after quest progress.
95–100: continue green pendants if materials are cheap, or use five unlocked rank-3 class necklaces. Those require 25 Blood of Sargeras, 10 Infernal Brimstone, five Pandemonite, five Furystone and the recipe’s additional gems. Check its specific rank source before buying rare gems.
Leatherworking: 1–100
Start Skin Deep with Namha Moonwater in Broken Isles Dalaran. Progress through the profession chain and Suramar’s Masquerade, then return for Demon Flesh to unlock Dreadleather and Gravenscale recipes.
1–75: approximately 90 rank-3 Warhide Bindings consume 810 Stonehide Leather. Rank 3 drops from Shade of Xavius in Darkheart Thicket. Alternatively, compare rank-3 Battlebound Grips from the final Halls of Valor treasure, using around 1,080 Stormscale.
75–100: 25 rank-3 Dreadleather Belts consume 300 Stonehide Leather and 50 Blood of Sargeras. Buy rank 1 from Stalriss Dawnrunner after the quests; Strap Bucklebolt sells ranks 2 and 3 for 250 and 500 Sightless Eye. The leather route’s crafting stages total about 1,110 leather and 50 Blood, plus unlock materials. Blood of Sargeras binds on pickup; do not assume you can buy it on the auction house.
Tailoring: 1–100
Start Sew It Begins with Tanithria in Broken Isles Dalaran. Complete the chain through The Queen’s Grace Loom for Imbued Silkweave access. Olisarra the Kind teaches bandages and splints.
1–30: about 55 Silkweave Bandages (55 Shal’dorei Silk). 30–54: 24 rank-3 Silkweave Cinches (288 silk). Buy its ranks 2 and 3 from Strap Bucklebolt for 250 and 500 Sightless Eye. 54–60: six Imbued Silkweave (60 silk, 18 Arkhana); keep them. 60–90: about 55 Silkweave Splints (275 silk, 55 Leystone Ore).
90–100: ten rank-3 Imbued Silkweave Cinches use 60 Imbued Silkweave and 20 Blood of Sargeras. You saved six, so obtain 54 more. Buy rank 1 from Leyweaver Erenyi; ranks 2 and 3 each require another 250/500 Sightless Eye at Strap. These are separate patterns from ordinary Silkweave Cinch. Include both sets of unlock costs and the extra imbued cloth in your shopping plan.
Herbalism: 1–100
Pick a herb in a Broken Isles zone to learn Legion Herbalism. Gather Dreamleaf in Val’sharah, or herbs in other Legion zones, for 1–85.
At 85, move to Fel-Encrusted Herb Clusters on the Broken Shore, which remain orange through 100. Flying helps cover separated spawns; make a wider circuit if you catch up with respawns.
Keep the expansion filter on Legion when checking gains. For a mixed Alchemy/Inscription plan, save both herbs and pigments appropriate to your chosen recipes. A mounted gathering setup can shorten travel interruptions, but does not replace visiting nodes that still award skill.
Mining: 1–100
Mine a Broken Isles node to learn Legion Mining. Basic deposits become unhelpful early; shift toward rich deposits and seams in caves or rivers.
For 1–85, work Suramar’s seam locations: 40.4,29.4; 42.2,29.9 behind the waterfall; 31.5,26.1; 24.2,50.7; 28.3,56.2; and 29.3,50.8. Check inside caves, not only the entrance. Rich nodes become grey around 70, making seams increasingly important.
Felslate Seams can take you toward 95, but availability is limited. For 85–100, prioritize Mining world quests after completing Uniting the Isles for Khadgar. The final five points require world-quest gains under this route. Check each reward; not every mining quest grants the same skill. Ordinary grey deposits cannot finish the bar, however long you farm.
Skinning: 1–100
Skin Broken Isles beasts until a Stonehide Leather Sample or Stormscale Sample starts its quest. Either quest can unlock Legion Skinning; you do not need both.
Level 1–100 on skinnable beasts such as Azsuna’s Young Bloodgazers and Bloodgazer Nest-Keepers, Stormheim’s Saberfang Worg, or Highmountain’s Sated Hillstriders. Choose a camp you can clear safely and move when competition creates downtime.
A tagged corpse can remain unskinnable until everyone entitled to loot has looted it. A busy kill quest therefore does not always improve skinning speed. Legion Skinning on gloves shortens the skinning cast. Save the leather or scales required by your Leatherworking route; skill gains are not guaranteed from every corpse.
Cooking: 1–100
Train with Awilo Lon’gomba (Horde) or Katherine Lee (Alliance) in Broken Isles Dalaran. Learn a world recipe to meet Nomi, then complete A Good Recipe List by learning six Legion recipes.
Nomi researches five ingredients per four-hour order. Results are random. Use Lean Shank to seek rank-2 Salt and Pepper Shank. For 1–50, budget about 55 crafts: 275 Lean Shank, 110 Flaked Sea Salt and 110 Dalapeno Pepper.
50–100: at Wardens Revered, buy Spiced Falcosaur Omelet from Marin Bladewing; estimate 120–150 Falcosaur Eggs. Alternatively research a high-tier dish such as The Hungry Magister using Highmountain Salmon, Fatty Bearsteak, Big Gamy Ribs or Leyblood. Learn rank 1 before collecting more research to permit higher ranks. Rank 2 may require roughly 70–90 crafts; rank 3 about 50. Research can take days and is not a guaranteed four-hour unlock.
Fishing: 1–100
Learn Legion Fishing from Marcia Chase in Broken Isles Dalaran. Fish in the Broken Isles to raise this bar; fishing in another expansion does not contribute.
Ordinary fishing can cover 1–100 in roughly 180 catches. Azsuna supplies Cursed Queenfish, Stormheim Stormray, Highmountain Highmountain Salmon, Val’sharah Mossgill Perch and Suramar Runescale Koi. Use the zone whose fish your Cooking route needs.
Rare fish can be thrown back for five skill points. Ancient Vrykul Ring reveals Oodelfjisk schools in Stormheim for five minutes; Rusty Queenfish Brooch reveals Ghostly Queenfish schools in Azsuna. Prepare the fishing location before activating a short buff. Arcane Lure improves bait chances. These are optional speed-ups: check auction prices against the time you expect to save.
Before repeating on another character
Check which recipes and currencies that character actually owns, then price the remaining inputs. A cheap reagent route can be slower overall if its recipe requires a reputation grind or a rotating quest. Keep intermediate products until the next stage is finished.
