Battle for Azeroth Profession Leveling: Routes, Ranks & Unlocks

Retail · Battle for Azeroth
Checked 21 October 2026

Kul Tiran (Alliance) and Zandalari (Horde) professions share the same Battle for Azeroth progression. These routes include the later Nazjatar stages, so reaching 150 is not mistaken for finishing the 175 cap.

Use the right skill bar and recipe rank

Choose this expansion in your profession window. Stop each stage when you reach its target skill; craft quantities are estimates whenever recipes turn yellow or green. Unlock the specified recipe rank before buying a full batch. Training, quest hand-ins, tools and discovery attempts can add materials beyond the listed crafting stages. Check your own recipe window for racial skill adjustments and current requirements.

Alchemy: 1–175

Train with Clever Kumali in Dazar’alor (Horde) or Elric Whalgrene in Boralus (Alliance). Keep all early Healing and Mana Potions.

1–37: around 20 Coastal Healing and 20 Coastal Mana Potions. 37–40: about three Lightfoot Potions. 40–50: learn rank 2 and craft five more Healing and five more Mana. 50–65: turn the saved pairs into about 25 rank-2 Coastal Rejuvenation Potions.

65–75: ten rank-2 Potions of Rising Death. 75–115: around 50 rank-2 Battle Potions of Strength. 115–145: approximately 33 rank-2 Flasks of Endless Fathoms, requiring 165 Anchor Weed, 330 Winter’s Kiss and 495 Riverbud. Rank-3 reputation recipes can extend earlier stages.

145–160: learn Abyssal Healing Potion from Narv (Horde) or Instructor Okanu (Alliance) after the Nazjatar introduction; budget 20 crafts and 60 Zin’anthid. 160–175: learn rank 2 and budget another 25 crafts, using 50 Zin’anthid. Add vials and a skill-gain buffer.

Blacksmithing: 1–175

Train with Forgemaster Zak’aal in Dazar’alor or Grix “Ironfists” Barlow in Boralus. The route needs Expulsom and 12 Mark of Honor for its later recipe ranks, plus vendor flux.

Milestones: 1–15 Monel-Hardened Armguards; 15–28 Waistguards; 28–35 Greaves; 35–50 Breastplates; 50–60 Monelite Skeleton Keys; 60–85 more Breastplates. Approximate craft counts are 15, 13, 7, 15, 20 and 25 respectively.

85–95: ten Honorable Combatant’s Plate Armguards. 95–115: 20 rank-3 Monel-Hardened Hoofplates. Learn rank 2 first; rank 3 drops from Kul Tiras/Zandalar humanoids.

115–145: 30 rank-3 Sinister Combatant’s Plate Armguards, using 450 Storm Silver, 120 Platinum and 30 Expulsom. Buy ranks 2/3 from Leedan Gustaf or Ozgrom Ragefang for six Marks total.

145–175: Nazjatar’s Notorious Combatant’s Plate Armguards: 15 rank 1 to 160, ten rank 2 to 170, five rank 3 to 175. Train rank 1 with Jada/Instructor Alikana; buy later ranks from Dazzerian/Crafticus Mindbender for two/four Marks.

Enchanting: 1–175

Train with Enchantress Quinni in Dazar’alor or Emily Fairweather in Boralus. Use vellum for tradable enchants. This ordinary-material route avoids Expulsom-dependent scepters.

1–30: about 40 glove enchants costing five Gloom Dust each. 30–35: seven Seal ring enchants. 35–60: about 50 rank-2 Seals. 60–75: 30 Enchanter’s Umbral Wands; disenchant them to recover materials. 75–85: 20 Coastal Surge. 85–95: 17 Deadly Navigation.

95–120: around 40 rank-2 Coastal Surge. 120–125: seven rank-2 Pact ring enchants. 125–150: 25 Quick Navigation. Learn trainer ranks as they become available; yellow and green stages can need extra crafts.

150–155: five Accord of Critical Strike. 155–165: ten Force Multiplier. 165–175: ten rank-2 Force Multiplier. Horde must unlock Narv in Nazjatar for the new recipes; check Emily’s trainer list on Alliance. Reserve about 734 Umbra Shards, 3,850 Gloom Dust and 222 Veiled Crystals as an initial estimate, plus vellum and Star Wood; reclaimed wand materials can reduce purchases.

Engineering: 1–175

Train with Shuga Blastcaps in Dazar’alor or Layla Evenkeel in Boralus. Buy Insulated Wiring and Chemical Blasting Caps from vendors.

1–30: 30 F.R.I.E.D.; 30–35: five Deployable Attire Rearrangers; 35–60: about 30 rank-2 F.R.I.E.D.; 60–85: 25 rank-2 Rearrangers. 85–110: use rank-3 Magical Intrusion Dampener, checking actual skill gains; older guides report variable multi-point behavior, so do not pre-buy against a fixed count.

110–125: about 25 Unstable Temporal Time Shifters. 125–145: 20 rank-3 Sinister Combatant’s Discombobulators, using 500 Storm Silver, 300 Platinum and 80 Expulsom. Buy ranks 2/3 from Leedan Gustaf or Ozgrom Ragefang for six Mark of Honor total.

145–150: five rank-1 Notorious Combatant’s Discombobulators. 150–165: 15 rank 2; 165–175: ten rank 3. Unlock Jada/Instructor Alikana in Nazjatar, then buy ranks 2/3 from Dazzerian/Crafticus Mindbender for two/four Marks. These final stages consume 405 Osmenite, 115 Storm Silver, 230 Wiring and 55 Expulsom. Confirm the mid-route recipes before buying the final batch.

Inscription: 1–175

Train with Chronicler Grazzul in Dazar’alor (42.3,39.6) or Zooey Inksprocket in Boralus (73.4,6.33). Buy parchment, Distilled Water and Acacia Powder from supplies vendors.

1–25: manually mill roughly 100–150 BfA herbs. 25–50: make inks. At 50 learn Mass Milling and use it to reach 80 while preparing later pigments. 80–85: around eight War-Scrolls of Battle Shout, using 64 Crimson Ink.

85–140: about 60 rank-2 faction contracts, using 900 Ultramarine and 480 Crimson Ink. Contract: 7th Legion requires Honored and is sold by Vindicator Jaelaana; The Honorbound equivalent comes from Ransa Greyfeather at Honored.

140–145: five rank-2 Darkmoon Cards of War use 50 Viridescent Ink, five Expulsom and five parchment. 145–175: unlock Narv/Instructor Okanu in Nazjatar and make Maroon Ink. Budget about 100 Maroon Pigment and 100 Distilled Water. At 155 learn Mass Mill Zin’anthid for additional points before finishing inks. Pigment yields and skill gains vary.

Jewelcrafting: 1–175

Train with Seshuli in Dazar’alor or Samuel D. Colton III in Boralus. Price individual gems against prospecting costs rather than assuming ore is cheaper.

1–75: approximately 130–150 uncommon cuts, such as Deadly Solstone, Quick Golden Beryl or Versatile Kyanite, at one matching gem each. 75–140: around 100 rare cuts, such as Quick Owlseye or Deadly Amberblaze. 140–150: ten Kraken’s Eye cuts.

Unlock Narv/Instructor Okanu in Nazjatar. 150–155: five Masterful Sea Currant or Versatile Dark Opal. 155–165: ten more eligible Nazjatar cuts; Quick Sand Spinel and Deadly Lava Lazuli are additional choices.

165–175: Mass Prospect Osmenite can still award skill. Prospect a small batch, then cut useful gems before buying more ore. Around 100–150 Osmenite is an estimate, not a guaranteed requirement: Leviathan’s Eye results and other prospecting yields vary.

Progression and recipe reference: Jewelcrafting

Leatherworking: 1–175

Train with Xanjo in Dazar’alor or Cassandra Brennor in Boralus. Buy Amber Tanning Oil and Nylon Thread from profession suppliers.

1–25: about 25 Coarse Leather Armguards, using 150 leather and 100 Blood-Stained Bone. 25–50: 25 Coarse Leather Pauldrons, using 200 leather and 150 bone. Shimmerscale versions are alternatives.

50–70: approximately 50 Hardened Tempest Hide, consuming 50 hides and 50 oil. 70–85: 15 Coarse Leather Barding (375 leather). 85–120: around 45 rank-2 Barding (900 leather). Learn the rank before crafting.

120–150: 30 Drums of the Maelstrom (750 leather, 300 bone). 150–175: unlock Jada/Instructor Alikana in Nazjatar and make around 40 Dredged Leather Bladders (400 Dredged Leather, 200 thread).

The all-Coarse route totals roughly 2,375 Coarse Leather and 550 bone before a skill-gain buffer. Using Shimmerscale for the first two stages substitutes 350 scales for 350 leather.

Tailoring: 1–175

Train with Pin’jin the Patient in Dazar’alor or Daniel Brineweaver in Boralus. Buy Nylon Thread from a vendor.

1–60: about 100 Tidespray Linen Bandages (200 linen). 60–75: 15 Tidespray Linen Robes (240 linen, 300 thread). 75–150: approximately 150 Embroidered Deep Sea Satin (150 satin, 150 linen, 750 thread). Keep the embroidered material for later recipes.

At 150 unlock Jada/Instructor Alikana in Nazjatar. Make Notorious Combatant’s Satin Bracers: ten rank 1 to 160, ten rank 2 to 170 and five rank 3 to 175. Buy ranks 2/3 from Dazzerian/Crafticus Mindbender for two/four Mark of Honor.

The three bracer stages need 215 Gilded Seaweave, 130 Deep Sea Satin, 165 Nylon Thread and 45 Expulsom. Combined with earlier stages, budget 590 linen, 280 satin and 1,215 thread, plus extra attempts. The thread total includes all three bracer ranks.

Herbalism: 1–175

Train with Jahden Fla in Dazar’alor or Declan Senal in Boralus. Gather BfA herbs in Drustvar, Vol’dun or another Kul Tiras/Zandalar zone for 1–150.

At 150, complete the Nazjatar introduction and learn rank-1 Zin’anthid gathering from Rolm or Instructor Ulooaka. Gather Zin’anthid to finish 175; old-zone gains slow markedly at this point.

Avoid enemy-faction settlements when designing a loop. Monel-Hardened Stirrups or a Sky Golem can reduce dismounting, while the appropriate BfA Herbalism glove enchant speeds the gathering cast. Buy conveniences only when the time saved justifies their price. Keep Zin’anthid for the final Alchemy and Inscription stages.

Mining: 1–175

Train with Secott the Goldsmith in Dazar’alor or Myra Cabot in Boralus. Gather Monelite and Storm Silver through 150 in Nazmir, Drustvar or Stormsong Valley. Zuldazar is another option, but avoid the Horde capital on Alliance.

At 150, unlock Nazjatar and train rank-1 Osmenite gathering with Rolm or Instructor Ulooaka. Mine Osmenite through 175. Inspect caves when minimap nodes seem to disappear; deposits can be beyond the entrance.

Keep a reserve of old-zone ores if you are leveling Engineering or Blacksmithing alongside Mining. Those recipes continue consuming Storm Silver even after you move to Nazjatar. Expand your circuit when respawns lag behind your movement.

Progression and recipe reference: Mining

Skinning: 1–175

Train with Rana the Cutta in Dazar’alor or Camilla Darksky in Boralus. BfA’s whole 1–175 Skinning span can be completed on suitable beasts in the original expansion zones.

Try Scavenging Boar at Hocking’s Plot in Drustvar, or Da’kani Pugilists and nearby gorillas in Zuldazar. Loot then skin, moving to another camp if competing players create downtime.

The Kul Tiran/Zandalari Skinning glove enchant reduces the cast time. Keep Coarse Leather or Shimmerscale and Blood-Stained Bone for Leatherworking. You do not need to move to Nazjatar merely to finish the Skinning bar; Dredged Leather is a separate material-farming objective.

Progression and recipe reference: Skinning

Cooking: 1–175

Train with T’sarah the Royal Chef behind the Great Seal’s mission table in Dazar’alor, or “Cap’n” Byron Mehlsack in Boralus. Buy flour, Foosaka and other vendor ingredients directly.

1–35: 34 Mon’Dazi. 35–50: 15 rank-2 Kul Tiramisu. Together they require 98 Aromatic Fish Oil, obtained by processing BfA fish.

50–75: 25 Seasoned Loins, using 250 Stringy Loins and 125 Foosaka. 75–140: switch to rank 2 and budget at least 80 more crafts, using 800 loins and 400 Foosaka. Green gains near the end can require substantially more; buy in batches.

140–155: learn Abyssal-Fried Rissole, visiting Instructor Ulooaka in Nazjatar on Alliance. Make about 15 rank 1 (120 Moist Fillet, 45 Foosaka, 75 flour). 155–175: about 25 rank 2 (200 fillet, 75 Foosaka, 125 flour). Keep initial dessert ingredients separate from these later-stage totals.

Progression and recipe reference: Cooking

Fishing: 1–175

Train with Silent Tali in northern Dazar’alor or Alan Goyle beside the pool near Boralus’s Tradewinds Market. Fish in Kul Tiras or Zandalar to level 1–175; roughly 300 catches is a planning estimate.

Choose water by ingredient: Kul Tiras inland waters supply Tiragarde Perch; its coasts supply Frenzied Fangtooth and Lane Snapper. Zandalar inland waters supply Redtail Loach; its coasts supply Slimy Mackerel and Sand Shifter. Great Sea Catfish appears in inland waters on both continents.

Nazjatar supplies Viper Fish and Mauve Stinger; Mechagon has Ionized Minnow. Check your BfA skill bar after the first few catches when using later-patch zones. For cooking oil, compare fish processing value with selling the fish directly; keep scarce recipe ingredients before converting a whole stack.

Before repeating on another character

Check which recipes and currencies that character actually owns, then price the remaining inputs. A cheap reagent route can be slower overall if its recipe requires a reputation grind or a rotating quest. Keep intermediate products until the next stage is finished.
