How to farm Dark Iron Ore

Mine deposits with Mining. Carry a Mining Pick and use Find Minerals.

Classic Era, TBC and Wrath use the original Azeroth terrain. Cataclysm and Mists use the reworked world, so use a route for your realm’s terrain.

Check the gorge and Blackrock Depths. Mining the ore and learning to smelt it are separate requirements; smelting requires the special Black Forge in Blackrock Depths.

Mining Dark Iron requires 230. Search the Cauldron’s ledges and tunnels; the surface outline cannot show underground passages. Smelting requires learning Smelt Dark Iron and using the Black Forge in Blackrock Depths. Markers identify approximate areas. Lines are suggested searches; they are not fixed spawn locations or a measured yield guarantee.
