Farming Whiptail

Item Level: 84
Where to Farm: Uldum or Tol Barad
Skill Requirement: Herbalism Level 500
Recommended Level: 83+

Whiptail is a very valuable herb used mostly by alchemists. If it’s cheap enough on your realm, players with Inscription might buy it to mill it for Ashen Pigment (which makes Blackfallow Ink), but if it’s that cheap, you might not want to farm it. It usually sells between 75-150 gold depending on what realm you’re playing on, how active your economy is and how many farmers are already on your realm. Whiptail is found mostly in Uldum but can also be found in Tol Barad. When you decide to farm Whiptail you should go to Uldum and expect to gather nothing but Whiptail, you won’t receive a large variety of herbs following the main Whiptail route.

Update: You can make a lot of gold with Whiptail, but if you want to step it up and make thousands of gold you should read my personal favorite guide.

Where to Farm Whiptail

Farming Whiptail in Uldum

Uldum is the main source of Whiptail. Even on high population realms this route is usually pretty empty. There’s no other place to really farm Whiptail either. Don’t go flying around the desert, you will only find Whiptail near water. Follow this route, zig-zagging from one side of the river to the other where the river is wide.

Farming Whiptail in Tol Barad

I don’t recommend going to Tol Barad just to farm Whiptail. If you have herbalism and you’re in Tol Barad anyways, you should keep this spot in mind. You might be waiting for your raid group to get ready or your faction might be getting its butt kicked in the battle. Head over to this spot and collect any Whiptail that is available to make some extra gold.

Tip: Have you ever wondered how players have so many level 85s or how they can level an 85 so quickly? I use and strongy recommend Zygor's in-game leveling addon which will enable you to level in 5 days of played time. You can find a free version of it here.
