Farming Embersilk Cloth

Embersilk Cloth
Embersilk Cloth
Item Level: 81
Where to Farm: Tol'Barad, Deepholm or Twilight Highlands
Recommended Level: 82+

Embersilk Cloth sells between 1 and 3 gold each (20 to 60 gold a stack) depending on the population of your realm. On some realms it sells for as much as 6 to 10 gold though. Take a look at your realm to see how well it’s selling before you farm a lot of this stuff. If it’s selling for a lot, it’s a really good trade good to farm. Embersilk Cloth always sells best in stacks of 20, since most of the people who buy it are tailors who intend to turn it into Bolts of Embersilk Cloth.

If you want to farm Embersilk effectively you should have Northern Cloth Scavenging and level 400 Tailoring. You can farm without these, but you will find less Embersilk. If you have tailoring leveling 325 but don’t have Northern Cloth Scavenging, visit a Tailor trainer to receive this skill.

If you want to farm Embersilk Cloth effectively, you should really be level 85. You can try at level 84 but level 85 is going to be much more efficient. You can collect it from just about any level 80 or higher humanoid in the new Cataclysm zones. I’ve went through all the possible humanoid areas and found the best place to farm embersilk.

Update: You can make a lot of gold with Embersilk, but if you want to step it up and make thousands of gold you should read my personal favorite guide.

Where to Farm Embersilk

Farming Embersilk Cloth in Tol’Barad

The best place to farm Embersilk Cloth is in Tol’Barad. The downside is that you will have to contend with much more PvP in this zone than the options below. Otherwise, there are a lot of humanoids with a great chance of dropping Embersilk in The Restless Front. There are two types of ‘ghosts’ that spawn in this area, they are very easy to kill and respawn quickly. Head here if your server is quiet and if you can stand the PvP.

Farming Embersilk Cloth in Deepholm

Probably the second best place to farm Embersilk is in Deepholm in Verlok’s Stand. The Verlok troggs drop a reasonable amount of Embersilk, are easy to kill and there is almost an infinite supply of them to kill. If you can bring a friend here you can do some serious farming. If you’re not strong by yourself, this might not be the best place to farm since the drop rate is slightly lower and you will have to fight 2-3 at a time.

Farming Embersilk Cloth in Twilight Highlands

NOTE: Players have reported that Glopgut Ogres no longer drop Embersilk. Please comment if you’ve tested this.

The next best place to farm Embersilk is in Twilight Highlands west of Thundermar, from the Glopgut Ogres. These guys have more hp than the humanoids in Tol’Barad, but you won’t have to deal with as much PvP. These Ogres drop as much cloth as anyone, are relatively easy to kill and there are enough to make a good farming spot out of them.

Tip: Have you ever wondered how players have so many level 85s or how they can level an 85 so quickly? I use and strongy recommend Zygor's in-game leveling addon which will enable you to level in 5 days of played time. You can find a free version of it here.

  1. Verlok’s Stand is indeed the best spot, as a tankadin i managed to farm 1400cloth per hour. Slap on a Treasurefinding Potion and you’re basicly bathing in cloth and drops.

After 3hrs of farming nonstop Verlok’s Stand I ended up with around 6k gold, back in 4.1 start though so prices have dropped by now.

  2. It is important to note that Treasurefinding potion doesnt work in Tol’Barad so Deepholm may be better. As a frost mage with ilvl325, I can pull anywhere from 8-12 mobs at a time. Make sure you loot fast because they respawn fast.

  3. Troggs no longer drop any loot at Verlok Stand …

  4. Restless front appears to still be good. :)

  5. you can do it best when you use treasure fining and iing multy mobs in deeplholm (around needleshock not sure whare)

  6. Glopgut Ogres in Twilight Highlands no longer drop embersilk cloth

  7. Just so y’all know I had to go to Farson Hold in Tol’Barad to get any embersilk… it didnt take long to get enough silk to make 3 stacks
    Good luck everyone

  8. I found equiping swift hand of justice trinkets (heirlooms) to be quite handy in area’s like velok stand. At lvl 90 4% heals is a lot of hp to be getting from a lvl 83-85 mob
